This exhibition explores contemporary ideas of “rest” and “play/leisure.” It reinterprets the concept of a “Library,” a space where our ancestors engaged in deep thinking and cultivated their personal tastes, within a modern context. Held at Gallery Royal, this exhibition is a collaboration between Metaphor 32, an exhibition studio that develops creative projects focusing on rest and leisure for the new generation, and Royal & Company, which views the bathroom as “a room for your inspiration” – a private space to relax and find new ideas.

Together, Royal & Company and Metaphor 32 share the theme of “a space for indulgence” to present a unique, modern interpretation of a Library – one filled with “inspiration and reflection” as well as “play and healing.” The exhibition brings together 20 creators, including artists, designers, artisans, and cultural heritage restorers, to showcase objects, spaces, tea, scents, and performances in a layered and interactive experience.During this time of uncertainty and anxiety brought by the pandemic, this exhibition invites you to discover your own preferences for rest and play, enjoy the small moments in life, and find an opportunity to refresh your mind and spirit. ©Metaphor32

이번 전시는 동시대적인 ‘쉼’과 ‘놀이/여가’에 대한 탐구를 제안합니다. 깊이 있게 사유하고 취향을 섬세하게 발전시키는 공간이었던 선조들의 ‘서재’. 이를 현대의 맥락에서 새롭게 비추어봅니다. 갤러리 로얄에서 선보이는 이 전시는 새로운 세대의 휴식공간과 놀이문화를 키워드로 다양한 활동을 펼치는 전시기획스튜디오 Metaphor 32와 내밀한 개인 공간인 욕실을 ‘영감의 원천이 되는 공간이자 새로운 영감을 위해 여유를 되찾는 공간(room for your inspiration)’으로 바라보는 로얄앤컴퍼니의 협업으로 이루어졌습니다.

로얄앤컴퍼니와 Metaphor 32는 ‘향유의 공간’이라는 공감대를 가지고 ‘영감과 사유’, ‘놀이와 힐링’이 있는 독특한 현대적 서재를 선보입니다. 작가, 디자이너, 장인, 문화재 복원가 등 20명의 아티스트들이 펼치는 오브제, 공간, 차, 향 퍼포먼스의 다층적 구성을 통해 창의적인 시너지를 경험할 수 있을 것입니다. 불안과 걱정이 증폭되는 팬데믹 시기에, 나만의 놀이와 쉼에 대한 취향을 발견하고 삶의 작은 순간들을 향유하며 마음을 정화하는 기회가 되기를 바랍니다. ©Metaphor32
